Dedicated to the men and women who fought the Great Danish Monz Flame War of '98. While some of these veterans have moved on with their lives and found better things to do, they will never be forgotten by the community which they served. Each year on Armistice Day, the Concerned Veterans of Foreign Flame Wars read the names of those who have fallen in order that Danish Monz be prevented from becoming too uppidy.

    Captain Rod's Speed Handicapping Picks:

    Big Brown
    Dennis of Cork
    Tale of Ekati
    Icabad Crane

Yeah, I like Casino Drive in there somewhere 3rd or 4th but I like the stone cold straight EXA with Cork! Maybe a TRI KEY (top 2 spots):

    BB over Cork over Ekati/Crane/Casino

Can you believe there is a maiden in this field?

Form not available yet so this is a PRELIMINARY stone cold Triple Crown TRI:

    1 Big Brown
    2 Dennis of Cork
    3 Behindatthebar

Could switch order of 2/3 as separate str8 TRI bets to disguise the pussy box! One of 2/3 is my underneath horse for (preliminary) manly str8 EXA.

Will the Japanese connections steal the triple crown? I vote No. Will it be Zito again? Certainly not with Anak Nakal but he has another one. Pletcher's year was last year. I am finding it easy to dismiss Peter Pan and Preakness runner ups. Will the front hoof quarter crack be Big Brown's demise? I vote no.

Will the stiff not cross Prado's mind? Has it not crossed the minds of Casino Drive campers? Can Prado really be friend and foe of Dutrow in race of this magnitude? I think he can so I'll have to chuck Casino based on lack of experience.

If Big Brown loses, then so do I; he's atop of all my wagers. There. I just used a semicolon like an uppity Obama voter. Imagine that. After several hours of laborious thought, I've reached this conclusion: George W. Bush is the worst. president. ever. At the same time I was able to determine this: There are five horses that can finish second. I bundled each with Big Brown and picked two TRIs:

    $6.00 EXA 7/1,2,8,10,11
    $4.00 WIN 7 (souvenir)
    $4.00 TRI 7/8/11
    $4.00 TRI 7/11/8 (pussy-box just in case)

So there you go, babies. I've posted my long-range financial plan. Bet it and win tens of dollars. Horses are reliable, aren't they? What could possibly go wrong? Oh, and babies, one more thing. Whatever you do, don't do this. Don't type "Big Brown" in Google images while you're at work...

    Sports Preakness

    Captain ROD Preakness 2008 thoughts...

It's all about picking the 2nd place horse this year for the str8 EXA underneath the horse with rag numbers better than Secretariat. BB -3/4 Second 1/2 lower is better. Big Red ran each 1/4 faster than previous. BB obviously did not but had a 20+ MPH head wind in the last 1/4.

At this time leaning toward this:

    1 BB
    2 Giant Moon
    3 BehindattheBar

A str8 EXA and TRI KEY box perhaps...

The speed that trys to run with BB will falter and lose to the stalkers. The stalker jocks who don't want to admit they are racing for 2nd will lose to the closers who do.
