When The Media Finally Attacks - Children Posted by Jeff (Sunday June 12 2005 @ 09:13PM EDT)

When the police scanner mentioned a dog mauling on Lincoln Way in San Francisco, the news media roared into action. Choppers took off to cover the event from the air. Beat writers stormed the neighborhood. Television crews were everywhere. San Francisco newsmen were ready for action. Maureen Faibish had long realized that her dogs wanted to kill her son Nicholas. Rather than rid herself of the dogs, she locked the kid in the basement. She told twelve year-old Nicky to stay put while she ran some errands. Unfortunately, the young boy figured out how to jimmy the lock and he walked in on two pitbulls as they were mating. The dogs ripped him to bits. Police shot one of the dogs and captured another. He is currently doing hard-time in a local kennel. But don't blame the dogs, just listen to his mother's description of the event. "It was a freak accident. It was just the heat of the moment," Maureen Faibish said. "It was Nicky's time to go. When you're born, you're destined to go, and this was his time." "I'm not mad at my dogs," Faibish said. "I just love them to death." Which explains why Nicky was locked in the basement while the dogs were free to roam the house. "I put him down there, with a shovel on the door," Faibish said in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle. "And I told him: 'Stay down there until I come back.' Typical Nicky, he wouldn't listen to me." No doubt about it. It's the kid's fault.

My god, that's disturbing. Who on this Earth would want to lock their kid in a basement? Lock the dogs in the basement if nothing else. There is then the little factor of her actually admitting to her dogs not liking her son. Yea, some dogs just don't like some people and that can be managed as I stated in the first comment. Next there comes her comment about it was her sons time. Again, she could have better managed the dogs. Fourth, no it's not the dogs fault, it's the trainer's fault. Though some dogs might not like a person, them attacking shows just how good of dogs the two pits were. I have a pitbull mix myself and she's just the sweetest thing in the world and that's because I trained her properly. She was well socialized with humans and other dogs to keep her from getting that aggressive nature. It just bothers me to think that someone would allow this sorta thing to happen. I hope the news report wasn't all sympathetic to the mother based off what you described. Like another above have said, she deserves trifold what her son got for letting those pets turn out and react the way they had.

You are all dumbasses. No it was not right to lock the kid in the basment, but the dogs were vicious because of how they were trained. If anyone should die I think it should have been that peice of shit mother. The dogs were trained that way. The mother is whole heartedly responcible. She made the dogs that way. She was responcible. It was the mother fault for having such human aggressive animals in the house. But dogs are man made animals. We bred them, so it wasnt the dogs fault. I have 3 pitbulls and they never harmed anyone. Ignorant people point the blame at dogs when nothing else is left to be said. Poor kid, 40 years ago, pitbulls were americas favorite breed, the little rascals, petey and everything. We think it is the mother and the son's fault because the fucking mother was being an asshole to her son by putting him in the basement and leaving him in the house alone with the dogs she knew didn't like him. One thing about pit bulls is that they are a very loyal and loving breed. They would die trying to save your life without question! The reason i say all this is because if the mother says that those dog's didn't like her son it could only been for two reasons. either the mother was very neglectant of her son and treated him like shit infront of those dogs so they could feel like he was an enemy or that boy was mean to those dogs and they didn't like him for their own personal reasons. my friend woke up in the middle of my two pit bulls mating walked over to the male and slapped him on the head while he was trying to get in her and all he did was look stupid. i've been around pit bulls for years and have never had any problems with one. i've even rescued ones from being abused, fought, or starved and they all turned out to be the best pets out there! that bitch was lying she knew why they attacked and killed her son she just didn't want to admit it. dog's don't just attack their owners for no reason!

I don't claim to know the truth here, but i just read an article on another web site and it fills in details that aren't mentioned here.
