Eulogize It - General

I'm currently in the middle of Lou Cannon's, "Ronald Reagan: The Role of a Lifetime." It marks my third tour through a Reagan biography. "The Acting President" and "Sleepwalking Through History" were the other two. On top of that, I've read the political memoirs of Michael Deaver, Larry Speakes, Donald Regan and Tip O'Neill. While I've never met him personally, the Gipper was a familiar character. I'm not sure who was the subject of George W. Bush's eulogy, but it was, at best, merely a caricature of Ronald Reagan.
We report, you decide.
(Frankly, I think George W. Bush was eulogizing himself.)

Actually, I was impressed that GW was able to give a speech without the word terror or terrorism in it.

Accidently I omitted the most fascinating memoir of the period, David Stockman's "The Triumph of Politics." In that book, Stockman confesses that supply-side economics was nothing more than a budgetary shell game that favored the wealthy. The architects of Reaganomics knew it was unworkable as they were working it. Alas, nobody cared. Reagan's smooth oration created an illusion that held America spellbound to this day.

Stockman's memoir is one of my favorites and should be required reading by anyone who professes to have an educated opinion about the Reagan presidency.
I thought it somewhat odd that GW Bush didn't take the same podium that his father had taken next to the coffin, but rather ascended to the pulpit.
