  • Blog Day Afternoon Three Stories You Won't Read Here - Blog Day Afternoon

Three Stories You Won't Read Here
British and Canadian papers are trumpeting stories that the mainstream American press isn't touching -- at least not yet.

    Ex-FBI worker challenges 9/11 lie
Tim Harper writes in the Toronto Sun that Sibel Edmonds, "who was hired as a translator by the FBI nine days after the attacks, told the investigative panel she has seen and handled intelligence documents and cables that show Rice, the national security adviser, is wrong when she says there was no advance warning of air attacks on U.S. soil."

Bush and Blair made secret pact for Iraq war
David Rose of the Observer writes: "President George Bush first asked Tony Blair to support the removal of Saddam Hussein from power at a private White House dinner nine days after the terror attacks of 11 September, 2001."

Bush's administration is worse than Nixon's, says Watergate aide
Julian Coman of the Telegraph writes: "John Dean, Richard Nixon's legal counsel who was jailed for his part in the Watergate scandal, has accused the Bush administration of trumping even the Nixon regime in secrecy, deception and political cynicism."

    1. Reported by CBS. Edmunds worked for a beaurocrat who in order to justify workload and budget, routinely erased translations. Some of those translations were later found to be interesting by a Government panel but not foretelling in any way, shape, or form, to the 911 disaster. Her biggest advocate is Senator Grassley, Republican from Iowa. She will probably be re-instated.

    2. Is being reported. Of course he did. It was even President's Bubba's policy that there be regime change in Baghdad.

    3. John Dean is getting more American coverage than he deserves. In fact, he will be on tonight's Hannity and Colmes. He is a weasel who is looking to sell a book. A confirmed partisan, he turned in the early 80's. Another bookseller.....surprise, surprise, surprise.

    3. Like Karen Hughes? Isn't she taking advantage of American's tragedy to sell books and partake in a publishers subsidized campaign trip? I'm sure her book is very informative: "He's a good man, he's a kind man."

As long as we are talking about books that exploit America's tragedy, don't forget Frist hawked his in March 2002: When Every Moment Counts: What You Need to Know About Bioterrorism from the Senate's Only Doctor by Bill Frist

    Damn partisans.

Bill Clinton had a secret pact with Tony Blair to topple Saddam Hussein prior to 9-11? Interesting.

This was submitted via email. It may now be a couple days old. I have since caught a waft of all these stories in the liberal media. But it's not fair to say that any have legs. I'll say one thing, John Dean makes a case that we're in the death throes of democracy. Hopefully he's just another reactionary Republican.

John Dean, a former counsel to Richard M. Nixon

I think Will's trying to say that John Dean has seen the light, that he's a disaffected Republican, that he is no longer a member of the dark side. Or maybe Will buys into the claim that Dean was Deep Throat, in which case he was never a Republican at all. In any case, defenses of the Bush administration rarely rely on facts, but ad hominem attacks: "You can't trust him, because..."

Slate. That's funny. Why not just refer to an Al Jazeera article.

I don't know if Dean was "Deep Throat" or not. I don't really care. He hates conservatives, period. Or as Shaquille O'Neill once said, "Period......P..E..R..I..D". Gotta love that LSU Education.

    And "Dark Side" is subjective.

    Will --

Can you give us an acceptable list of news sources that you find acceptable? I'll probably not be able adhere to it, but it would be good to know.

    > And "Dark Side" is subjective.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time Will got something right! My comment was subjective. Sensible people understand where I'm coming from, the Dark Side?--not so much.

BTW Will, writing "Fox News" ten times don't count as a list...

Will is always right! Don't you hate it when people refer to themselves in the 1st person?
