Last week, I commented on the Federal government's double standard with regard to deceit. An agent of the federal government may lie to you, but -- as Martha Stewart discovered -- you may not lie to a government agent. For this standard to be applied, you do not have to be under oath nor must you be accused of a crime. This is detailed in Title 18, Chapter 47, Section 1001 of US legal code. As a result of her deceit, Ms. Stewart faces 20 years in Federal prison. As a result of U.S government deceit, I reported that 665 U.S. servicemen have lost their lives. This was inaccurate. That was the total number of coalition forces killed in the conflict. At the time of this writing, 589 American servicemen have been killed in Iraq.
