My wife is sick with a stomach virus. If I had what she has, I'd be crying like a little school girl. Men don't handle such things as well as women. She's weathering the storm like a trooper. But the dog is quite concerned. He dotes over her and nuzzles up against her with every chance he gets. Our English Bulldog cares very deeply. One of his feeding machines is broken...

On the bright side, I haven't eaten in 2 days, and I lost 3 pounds. This shit is better than Atkins!

    ... and just as healthy.

Hmmmm. Under the Atkins diet, last evening I had chicken covered in fresh garlic with grilled veggies - Roma tomatoes, red peppers, zucchini and squash. Would it have been more healthy to order the Atkins taboo food - the cheeseburger & bun with a heaping plate of fries? Maybe add some gravy to the fries to make it extra healthy? And some extra processed white bread to mop up the gravy? And then a big bowl of ice cream for desert?

A single meal does not a diet make. For the long term effects of the Atkins diet, allow me to call an expert witness.

    An online survey? Uh-huh....

Yes, there was an online survey in that article, but there was also testimony from Dr. Neal Barnard, a representative for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine who described two deaths that he attributed to the Fatkin's Diet. I could also direct you to the Fatkin's Autopsy...

There is no empirical evidence that Atkins the man followed Atkins the diet. All I know is that if you follow the Atkins diet, you replace "bad" carbs liked french fries and convenience foods with things like fresh veggies. I'm not eating more meat, I am eating the same meat but now eating more veggies.

And anyone can attribute two random deaths to anything. There is no causal relationship proven in that article. It seems the bigger fad has become being anti-Atkins....

Hopefully you'll stick with it and we'll get to evaluate your health over time. But, alas, like disco, CB radios and pet rocks, this, too, shall pass....

Ahem ... that would be a variation of the Funkman flu diet.

Well Cher, I do hope you feel better. Dog's are just the best at taking care of ill loved ones. I'm sure Limey is doing a damn fine job. The broken feeder however, that could be a problem. Jeffey Guy needs to go down the road to PetSmart. While he's out, have him pick you up some soup.

Cher is one of two feeding machines in the dog's life. I'm happy to report she's more functional now. My point was that dogs dupe homo sapies to believe that they care about them. They don't; they care about food. (And rides in the car) The dog is back on his own sofa now that his feeding machine is fixed.

At one point, the dog tried to use my lifeless body as a step stool to get onto the verboten leather couch. Yeah, he cares....

When I had the flu I lost 10 pounds. Also my dog crawled on my stomach, and I thought how nice another 2 pounds gone. So I thought he cared about me, but it turned out he just needed to pee.

Yeh, there is nothing more humiliating than when your dog pees on you.
