Rush Limbaugh Is An Asshole - Blog Day Afternoon

A frequent web query which deposits surfers on Blog Day Afternoon is actually misleading. After they've entered "Rush Limbaugh is an asshole" into the Google search engine; they find themselves here. While that statement is accurate, Rush Limbaugh is an asshole, this site has barely mentioned the squawking chickenhawk. A few months ago, I honored His Lardness with an Asshole of the Month award. We don't actually have an Asshole of the Month award. But I felt it was necessary to state the obvious.
Soon after Limbaugh accepted his Inoperable Pilonidal Cyst Award, he began to appear in my referer logs:
"q=Rush+Limbaugh+the+asshole"
"q=RUSH+LIMBAUGH+IS+AN+ASSHOLE"
"q=Rush+Limbaugh+as+asshole+of+the+month"
"q=Rush+Limbaugh+is+an+asshole"
"q=Rush+Limbaugh+an+asshole"
The Googlers that issued those queries must have left this site in disappointment. Limbaugh is mentioned twice as the Asshole of the Month. Or was it Asshole of the Week? If I ever get a secretary her first order of business will be to determine the frequency with which Limbaugh is an asshole. Suspicion deems it hourly. Aside from a distinction as Anal Orafice of a Period of Time to be Determined by My Future Secretary, he recieved just one other mention. Rush Limbaugh is a big fat Chicken Hawk. Web surfers had spoken but I had failed to listen. They wanted more information about Rush Limbaugh, A.S.S.H.O.L.E.
I felt compelled to write an essay on the nation's number one radio host. The problem with that aspiration is this: Rush Limbaugh's program makes me want to puke. My stomach just isn't strong enough. Once my wife and I were riding from Key West to Fort Lauderdale with friends of ours. He turned the AM dial to the Rush Limbaugh Gospel Hour. Within minutes Cher and I were at his throat. The problem with Rush Limbaugh lies in the fact that he's full of shit. Unfortunately I can't make that statement. My credibility was shot to hell when I mentioned that I never listen to Rush Limbaugh. Fortunately there are people who handle the dirty work.
A research team at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania developed test to determine whether or not Rush Limbaugh was full of shit. The beauty of this project was simple. They were able to make this determination without actually listening to him. They listened to his listeners instead. The study tracked how people learned about health care over a nine month span. Jamieson conveyed her findings to Al Franken:
“ We just concluded a study of 360 people, whom we watched watch the health care reform debate for nine months. And at the end of that period, we took the people who said they relied on talk radio, and by this, we mean primarily Rush Limbaugh. . . . And we asked them how well informed they felt. . . .Of all the people we watched, they said they were the best informed. And of all the people we watched, they were the least informed.”
--Kathleen Hall Jamieson

Well, we conservatives have our own a-hole to put up with (Rush). I only hope when your idiot (Al) takes to the airwaves you have just as big a cross to bear as we do. BTW, is there anyone left from the original cast of Saturday Night Live who has NOT been touched by Chevy Chase Unfunny Disease?
Chevy Chase - most unfunny man in America
Garrett Morris - never funny
Larraine Newman - see above
Belushi - died before affliction
Jane Curtain - afflicted
Gilda Radner - died before affliction
Dan Akroyd - afflicted
Franken - writer/bit player: heavily afflicted.

Morris, Newman, Curtain, and Radner hardly had careers after SNL. The only one I can completely agree with on this list is Chevy Chase - and that was only a very recent affliction. Chase's "Pres. Ford falling down" sketches were great. Plus, the first Family Vacation movie was hilarious. Chase now gets haunted by Stuttering John of the Stern show who reminds him of how un-funny he is.

Didn't Curtain have an OK stint on 3rd rock as well as Kate and Allie?

Careers, yes but funny? Chase's loss of the funny gene happened sometime shortly after Christmas Vacation - one of my all time favorites.

While Franken displays a liberal bias, he does not play the role of ideologue. He is apt to itemize an endless array of stupid conservative tricks while he overlooks, or fails to mention, stupid liberal tricks. But Franken is a humorist, not a journalist. He does not pretend to aspire to whatever-the-hell-it-is-that-Rush-does.
In the world according to Rush:
The Sierra Club is the most powerful organization in America. They plan to limit the number of children you can have to just two. This apparently is a covert operation as their website fails to mention this "policy."

Ideologue: An advocate of a particular ideology, especially an official exponent of that ideology.
I think you just described Franken in a nutshell.

An advocate of an ideology? That might be a stretch. A guy whose world view is limited to poking fun of conservatives is probably more realistic...

Bill Murray was not an original cast member - he was Chevy's replacement and yes, he has very successfully avoided CCU Disease.

I'm relying on memory, but I believe that both samples I've cited represent the final films of Belushi and Radner. While it's true I can't assess an entire career on the basis of one klunker, it's equally true that you cannot assert they died before acquirering Chevy Chase Unfunny Disease.

You are high on drugs young man. Ok, you're sitting across the aisle from me and I know you're not high on drugs. You are assuming that CCUD is a quick strike disease. I believe it is a slow cancer. Belushi was one funny mo-fo right up until the end. Radner? eh, I'll give you that one.

the SNL gang (rather, the first five years thereof) with it's guest hosts, musical guests, comedy, comedians, and diversity of grand comedic brilliance/talent really & truely defined the very essence of the last 30 years of 'pop culture' in much the same way the Beatles did for music (musicians and song writers from the time right up untill the 'present day' have been inspired by their stuff)
and as i say the 'not ready for prime time players' defined 'pop culture' i mean not so much at the time it was actually happening (where it was more reflective thereof) but as creative and innovative forces which outgrew the show AND lived on and on in every area of entertainment - movies-music, comedy- and even Al Franken's version of 'i sing the body politic'...you got to give them credit (Lorne Michaels and Michael O'Donahue, et all) for an amazing 5 year run of something much much more significant than just 'celebrity' tv. comedy that still reminds me how wonderful it is to be alive and be human - to smile, to laugh, and to cry, when nessecary - it's never been the same since Gilda passed away...and Belushi always made me smile!

SNL aside I think that we are forgetting one fundamental difference between Rush and Al.
Rush Limbaugh intentionally lies and misleads people with every breath that he takes while Al, points these things out.

yeah. Talk about changing the topic of conversation from 'Rush Limbaugh is an asshole' to equivalence of Al vrs. Rush. And how certain actors are not funny.
Sorry. Al isn't an asshole. Rush is. A vastly greater amount of words that are regurgitated from Rush Limbaugh's pill-hole are, in true junkie fashion, lies, as compared to Al Franken. At least Franken is funny.
You know how drug addicts will say anything, and then deny responsibility? It's like the perfect demagogue has been invented - with no troubling conscience. Rush Limbaugh has turned half of my midwestern friends into drivel spouting ditto heads. half of America thinks this guy is the second coming of Christ or something. And he's an asshole. Oh what a world we live in.

I can't get my e-mails to Rush they are blocked by his system, which means like his show he screens e-mail like his callers. You will never hear a well educated Democrate on his show who can take an opposite position from his and kick ass, he won't allow it. He doesn't like the truth except the Rush truth which makes him a draft dodger into some kind of super loyal American Patriot now, on top of being a durg addicted creep.
